Today, visitors come to experience dramatic coastlines, incredible wildlife, fascinating history, and the unique culture that makes this province unlike anywhere else in Canada.
Signal Hill
Rising above St. John’s, Newfoundland, Signal Hill is a historic coastal landmark offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the city below. For centuries, the hill served as a strategic lookout and played an important role in Newfoundland’s military and communications history. Today, visitors can explore scenic trails, historic sites, and the iconic Cabot Tower while experiencing one of the most unforgettable views in Atlantic Canada.
George St Entertainment District
Located in the heart of downtown St. John’s, George Street is one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most famous entertainment districts. Known for its lively pubs, local music, colourful nightlife, and welcoming atmosphere, this historic street has long been a gathering place for residents and visitors alike. From traditional Newfoundland music to vibrant festivals, George Street offers an unforgettable taste of the city’s culture and hospitality.
Quidi Vidi Village
Quidi Vidi Village is a charming historic fishing community nestled along the eastern edge of St. John’s, Newfoundland. Surrounded by rugged hills and scenic coastal waters, the village is known for its colourful fishing stages, local culture, and picturesque harbour. Visitors can explore the waterfront, enjoy local food and craft experiences, and discover a quieter side of Newfoundland’s capital city.
Iceberg Alley
Iceberg Alley is a spectacular stretch of coastline along Newfoundland and Labrador where massive icebergs drift south from Greenland each spring and summer. Visitors can spot these towering natural wonders from scenic coastal communities, hiking trails, and boat tours while also watching for whales, seabirds, and other marine wildlife. With its dramatic ocean views and ever-changing ice formations, Iceberg Alley offers one of the most unforgettable natural experiences in Atlantic Canada.
A Landscape Like No Other
Located on Newfoundland’s west coast, Gros Morne National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its dramatic mountains, deep fjords, ancient rock formations, and breathtaking coastal scenery. Shaped by powerful geological forces over millions of years, the park offers visitors a chance to explore some of the world’s most remarkable landscapes. From hiking and boat tours to wildlife viewing and scenic drives, Gros Morne is one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most unforgettable natural treasures.
L'Anse aux Meadows
Located on the northern tip of Newfoundland’s Great Northern Peninsula, L’Anse aux Meadows is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the only confirmed Norse settlement in North America. Dating back more than 1,000 years, this remarkable archaeological site reveals the story of Viking explorers who travelled across the Atlantic long before European settlement became widespread. Today, visitors can explore reconstructed Norse buildings, learn about Viking life, and experience one of Canada’s most important historic landmarks.
Puffin Watching
Newfoundland and Labrador is one of the best places in North America to experience puffin watching. Each summer, thousands of Atlantic puffins return to the province’s rugged coastline and offshore islands to nest and raise their young. Visitors can enjoy boat tours and coastal viewpoints to see these colourful seabirds up close while taking in the dramatic ocean scenery and rich wildlife of the North Atlantic.
